What exactly is healing? Many of us think of medical, as our society has guided us in that direction for many years. This is a valid focus, but is that all there is? Isn't there be more than just the physical? I believe that healing connects all aspects of who we are, all points of time, all phases of life. The dictionary definition of healing is 'restoring to wholeness'. To restore is to 'give back, make restitution, to bring back into existance'. Allow me to share with you my own definition:
"Healing is rediscovering our essence,
our spiritual self.
To take what has been fragmented,
and make it whole again.
This is accomplished
by reclaiming what is ours,
and returning what is not.
It is finding the light by which to see,
and discovering the light eminates within."
Radiant Journey is focused on both the individual journey and the interconnectivity we have with those around us. There are many levels of connectivity or alliance: the connection between two individuals, such as teacher and student, as the flow of information from one inspires new thought pathways in the other; through our support network, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually; and, last but most importantly, by the individual as they create a stronger alliance and flow between body & mind, spirit & source. By reconnecting to our physical support from the earth beneath us, and our spiritual source above, we are better able to explore this incredible existance in-between and find our own unique role and pathway.
Moving from Conflict to Alliance
The word ALLIANCE is multi-dimensional. To form an alliance is "to connect, to agree upon a common goal". An ally can be a friend, aide, partner, teacher, or coworker. By definition, an ally is someone who cooperates and supports. Typically we think of alliances as some exterior influence, but for the moment let's focus on the idea of an inward alliance. Many of our difficulties arise from contradictions within ourselves. The alliance between body, mind and spirit is often challenged by conflicting information, outdated concepts, and imbalance in our ability to nurture ourselves above and beyond our interaction with the world around us. We know this all too well, and sometimes feel our steps forward are awkward struggles instead of a gliding motion. Many of us give up and stagnate for lack of a better way.
How do we remedy this situation? How do we turn the wheels in the same direction instead of fighting against ourselves? Let's start with the good news: in order to ask such a question you have already taken steps toward your own answer through your focus, awareness, and desire. Within your circle of awareness you have already created a space not just for the question but also for the answer. You have already transformed a collection of experiences into a thought, and in doing so you are closer to recognizing what is concept and what is your own information, two things that are within our ability to change.
Same Mountain, Different Paths
Using the analogy of choosing a pathway in order to reach the mountaintop, there are many paths. Some may choose a winding yet gentle trail, while others choose the exhileration of the steep, rocky climb. Both pathways inevitably reach the mountaintop. Others may not desire to undertake the journey, or may abandon the trek for any number of reasons, as the mountaintop may not be their next step. In pursuit of our spiritual pathways many of us have tried various teachings and methods, and continue to do so throughout life. Any modality or method can be a tool in your journey, and while many of us may know the same teachings, the experience will be unique for each of us, for it is not the tool but our understanding of and use of these tools that render them useful. Our ability to choose, our free-will, gives us the right to decide our steps, actions and progress. The journey is as individual as the traveller, and can never rightfully be compared to the journey of another.
In selecting a pathway and the tools for your adventure, remember to bring along some self-kindness, patience and appreciation along for your journey. Keep within your focus the purpose of your search - whether you seek alliance with others, or alliance within yourself, be true to that pursuit. Allow me to offer this blessing: May your path be a rocky one, and may your heart recognize the diamonds nestled within those rocks.
