Dowsing - An ancient Egyptian Art PDF Print E-mail

Often associated with the use of a dowsing rod, this ancient technique dates back to Egyptian times.  Advocates of dowsing have included many scientific minded individuals such as Albert Einstein.

One use of dowsing is location of underground water sources.  Typically a divining or dowsing rod is used for this purpose.

Another method for dowsing is the use of a pendulum.  It is believed that the pendulum allows the user to step beyond the conscious mind (and ego), and go directly to the higher consciousness/super consciousness or higher self.  Similar to the use of muscle-testing, it is thought that the pendulum is incapable of giving incorrect results when used correctly.

dowsing.pngCharts are often used is dowsing.  These charts can be modified or populated for use on a specific topic or focus, and when the question is clearly presented the pendulum points to the answer.  Providing options such as "not on this list" or "not applicable" would allow for possibilities outside those provided on the chart.

Pendulums have also been used as indicators of energy change (energy healing).

Some of the considerations with dowsing:
Creating parameters for the session (such as only allowing answers that serve the greater good of the recipient)
Clarity of those involved (using a verbal question rather than thought to trigger the response)
Intent of those involved (allowing results without influence)
