Regaining our Spirituality. I've wondered, "why am I writing about spirituality when there's already volumes published on the subject"? Oh the flood of answers that followed that question! There is so much to say, so many ways to say it, countless tries to understand it, and yet it is all so simple. Maybe that's the case, could it be too simple?
We have the most amazing situation here on this planet. There is available to us an incredible amount of information and experences, so much that we can barely touch the surface in one lifetime. We're like children in the amusement park. We start the day holding the hand of our guardian and guidance, but there is so much to see, so many new and wonderous experiences! In the whirlwind of adventure we step away from that connection, drawn full force into the flurry of activity. But soon enough the adventure pales, and we grow weary. We reach a point when we need our rest and renewal. Many times we are able to reconnect, but sometimes we forget, lose that connection to our point of comfort and direction. Suddenly we feel a lack, and that part of us feels alone. So we seek, but who or what are we seeking?
Many of us have reached that point of seeking. We long for our renewal, that peaceful feeling. The time comes to rethink, regroup and remind ourselves of our true goals and purpose in this life. But how do we do that, find our truth? How can we know what to do when we don't even know what part of this load we carry is 'the real me'?
We've spent a long time wandering around this amusement park, watching and playing and learning, and just like a child many of us struggle and fight when it's time to rest and restore. Just like a child we continue to drive forward, for the world awaits us, and we don't want to miss a beat.
And so, in celebration of our precious "child-like" side, we will now go back to the basics, the four "R's". Okay, my version of the four "R's": let us remember our point of origin, reconnect to that point, and just as we allow our body its time of slumber (yes I see, that's a challenge for many of us as well), we can allow ourselves time for spiritual rest (call it meditation, prayer, or internal focus) in order to review and release. We all need time to recharge so we can move boldly on to our next adventure!
